3358089 - "Publish cannot be performed because the data audit table has reached the maximum number of rows" when publishing the result of a data action in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)

Symptom

  • Publish cannot be performed because the data audit table has reached the maximum number of rows.
  • "An unexpected technical error occurred." when publishing the result of a data action in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)
  • Error: 502 Bad Gateway: Registered endpoint failed to handle the request.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 

Reproducing the Issue

Any activity that attempts to update data in a public or private version will generate this error.

Cause

The data change audit log has reached its maximum capacity.

Resolution

In urgent cases you can Turn Off and then Turn back on the data Audit log in the model. NOTE THAT THIS WILL DELETE ALL EXISTING AUDIT DATA FOR THIS MODEL.

Alternatively you can delete the oldest records until you reduce the size of the audit log enough for the data to be published. Note that there are timeout issues when deleting large amounts of data from the audit logs, so you may need to delete by small segments of one or two weeks at a time until you have deleted the desired amount of records.
