3358593 - "Work Agreement Exists for Employee" Error When Modifying Termination Date via Migration Tool

Symptom

You are trying to use the migration tool to modify the termination date of an already terminated employee. In the simulation step, the migration tool raises the following error:

"Work agreement exists for employee XYZ in period ABC - DEF" (where XYZ represents the employee ID, and ABC and DEF represent the hire and termination dates respectively).

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Enter the Overview view.
  3. Search and open activity Migration of Employee Data - XYZ (where XYZ represents the country code).
  4. Click on Migrate Personal Data Using the Migration Tool.
  5. Select the template and click on Execute Migration.
  6. Click on Step-by-step.
  7. Proceed until step 3 - Simulation.
  8. After the simulation is executed, the error is raised.

Cause

Currently it is not possible to use the Migration Tool to modify the termination date of an employee. This happens because the migration of personal data only supports the "Add new records" mode, which tries to create a new entry in the personal data table, instead of changing the existing one. This causes the error as the work agreement for the dates in the migration template already exist.

Resolution

The system works as expected.
