Symptom

  • The ODE (Optimized Design Experiece) story based on Live BW model always shows the select filter value as English in SAP Analytics Cloud
  • The same problem doesn't occur when using Classic Design Experience story.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2023.8

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Define a Live BW connection in SAP Analytics Cloud. To make the behavior clear, using a non-English language as the Default Language. Such as, Chinese, Korean or Japanese.
  2. Based on this Live BW connection create a model, make sure this model based Bex query contains a variable for 0CALMONTH.
  3. Create a new ODE story to use this model.
  4. Select a value for this variable. In Select Member dialog, confirm that it shows Description as the specified language text.
  5. Choose the value, apply the filter.
  6. Notice in the filter bar, the selected value displayed in the filter bar is changing as English. Such as JAN 2023.

Cause

The issue is caused by the different text value of Medium Text and Long Text for 0CALMONTH from table T247.

In Select Member dialog, the value is using Long Text but in the last step the value shown in filter bar is using Medium Text.

Resolution

This behavior is BY DESIGN. In the data source BW system, when needed the value of 0CALMONTH should keep Medium Text and Long Text to be the same value and same language.
