3360565 - Invoice Date Calculated from Invoicing Time Frame is Unexpected

Symptom

You are trying to create invoice schedule to one contract line, and set up the recurrence pattern to every 2 month on the last day. You expect the invoice date should be taken from the last day of every 2 months, while system picks the last date of the first month instead.

For example, the invoice time range is from date 01.06.2023 to 12.31.2023.

recurrence patter is Monthly, every 2 month, on last day.

You expect the first invoice date should be 31.07.2023. (The last day of every 2 months). However system uses the date 30.06.2023 as the invoice date.(The last day of the first month in every 2 months)

Environment

SAP Business Bydesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the sales orders work center.
  2. Go to the Contracts view.
  3. Open the contract ABC. (ABC represents the ID of the contract)
  4. Go to the Invoice Schedule, select the line 10. The first invoice date is 30.06.2023.
  5. Open the Time Frame, we can see the following:

start date: 01.06.2023 ~ end by date: 31.12.2023

Every 2 month on last day.

You expect the first invoice date should be 31.07.2023.

Cause

Since the recurrence pattern is monthly, system sperate the time into monthly basis. The field 'on' is calculated based on the monthly basis and does not consider the parameter 'every'. No matter what 'every' value you set, the last day is always taken from the first time basis.

Resolution

This is the current system design.

As a workaround, if the recurrence pattern cannot fulfill your requirement, you can use Individual Dates to add the invoice dates manually.
