3362326 - Information message 'Following locks will be set in the target systems' appears when deleting a Document Type in the Configuration Activity 'Define DMS Document Types' 101090

Symptom

When trying to delete a DMS Document Type , we get the message: "Following locks will be set in the target systems. The Doc type exists in table Document Type"

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA, Cloud
  • Document Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access the Configuration Activity 'Define DMS Document Types' 101090
  2. Select a Documnt Type and click Delete button
  3. Confirm popup with 'Entries to be deleted - Do you want to proceed with delete?'
  4. Save

Cause

The Pop-Up which is appearing is an information message for our locking mechanism.

Whenever you are trying to delete a document type, internally it searches if the document type is in use anywhere (Landscapes: development, quality & production). If no usage is found, it will trigger Semantic Business Configuration Locks (SBCL). This lock will be set to all the landscapes wherever this document type is present.

This is where the information Pop-Up comes stating that it will be setting the lock for this document type.

This ensures that no one is creating or trying to use this document type by any means across landscapes

Resolution

You can click on continue or the tick mark button and proceed. It will log this deletion in a transport request and it will show the lock id details in the next steps.
