3362369 - Error - ARBFND_FRW 040 - Cannot move &1&2 to data element &3 with maximum length &4 - occurs at Ariba sent SAP Backend incoming cXML processing

While processing a cXML message sent by Ariba to SAP ERP or to S/4hana and it is being processed with cXML* named webservices - so using the Ariba Network Integration for SAP Business Suite add-on or S/4hana's built-in add-on version, you receive error - ARBFND_FRW 040 - Cannot move &1&2 to data element &3 with maximum length &4.

The error message is a general one, it can refer to various part of the cXML file that was attempted to map into certain data element (ABAP field) but was not successful as the to-be-mapped data's length reached the data element's maximum.

Some examples:

1. Receiving a shipping notification (inbound delivery) creation cXML message (via service cXMLShipNoticeRequest_In), but its processing fails with error: "Cannot move street, to data element AD_STR_OLD with maximum length 000040"
   
   
2. You get error "Cannot move &&& to data element EXTSRVNO with maximum length 000018". when supplier created SES on Ariba and filled the Part no. more then 18 charachter and that SES reached to SAP ECC and processed with cXMLServiceEntryRequest_In in the frame of Suite Enablement Add-on. 
   
   
3. Or similarly, cXMLServiceEntryRequest_In processing ends in error "Cannot move 55000043008_A_SS_1 to data element LBLNE1 with maximum length 000016"
   
   
4. Inbound confirmation cXML posting via webservice interface cXMLConfirmationRequest_In ends with error: "Cannot move Test confirmation for more than 35 char to data element XBLNR_LONG with maximum length 000035"

And so similar error message might appear in other kind of cXML* webservice's usage if Ariba sent data is not suitable, or you try to map with custom logic certain data into a standard ABAP data element.
