Symptom
In Asset Class Determination, you have 2 Fixed Asset Class for each Product Category.
One set is specifically for company ID XYZ(XYZ refers to a company ID), as the company's useful life is different and other row is for blank company code.
You would expect, upon performing Goods Receipt of asset of company XYZ, it will be posted to the asset class linked to XYZ, however the assets are still posted to the Asset Class that is applicable to blank, instead of the set for company XYZ.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Business Configuration work center
- Fixed Asset Classes Activity
- Asset Class Determination section
- The product category ID has 2 asset classes mapped
Cause
Current system design
Resolution
When setting up the decision table always keep specific entries (ones which have a product category explicitly maintained) at the top and keep the generic entries (ones with blank product category) at the bottom as these serve as a fallback in case a specific product category is not found.
We discovered that any product categories maintained beneath this "empty" line, were pretty much invisible to the system logic.
The current workaround is to move the other rows above the empty one (so in this case, select the last four rows and click button "Move Up"). Once you do this, the document should post fine
