3364542 - Backoffice Unable to load widget due to duplicated component definition

Symptom

  • After login into the Backoffice you can see a blank page and an error shows in Kibana logs: "Unable to load widget definition for code com.hybris.cockpitng.backoffice.mainLayout"
  • After upgrading to platform version 2211.5 in Backoffice logs there were ERRORS: "Duplicated component definition for de.hybris.<MASKED>.backoffice.widgets.actions.syn" for customised Backoffice extension
  • Resetting the Backoffice config as instructed in KBA 3217911 - How to handle the error "Unable to load widget definition for code x.x.x.x.x.x.x" did not help but in the widget.xml is only an empty widget definition because when you click on the Show widgets.xml, you will see only the below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
    <widgets/>
