Symptom
In business task management, the assignment of tasks does not work as expected.
- A and B stand for employees of different org/reporting line units.
- C stands for an employee who is the manager of a further org/reporting line unit.
- For employee A, it is possible to assign e.g. an 'approve leave request' task to employee C.
- For employee B, it is not possible to assign e.g. an 'approve leave request' task to employee C.
- While C is a manger, C is not the manager of A and B, and also not of an associated above reporting line unit.
- No substitutions are involved.
- It is not clear why C can be assigned to A but not to B.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Application and User Management work center
- Go to Business Task Management view
- Find e.g. an 'Approve Leave Request' task for A
- Try to: Assign Item to C
- > C is found and can be assigned
- Go to Application and User Management work center
- Go to Business Task Management view
- Find e.g. an 'Approve Leave Request' task for B
- Try to: Assign Item to C
- > No search results for C
Cause
- Employee A's org unit has C as assigned employee, hence C is available for assignment.
- Employee B's org unit doesn't have C as assigned employee, hence C is not available for assignment.
Resolution
This is the expected system behaviour.
