Symptom
- MS ODBC Data Source Administrator crash.
- CR TextFile ODBC Driver 7.1.6 causes the ODBC Data Source Administrator to crash.
- When attempting to create an ODBC DSN using the CR TextFile ODBC Driver, and clicking on the button "Define", the MS ODBC Data Source Administrator crash.
Environment
- SAP Crystal Reports 2020
Reproducing the Issue

Install Crystal Reports 2020. By default it install the Data Direct ODBC drivers, which includes the ODBC driver:
CR TextFile ODBC Driver 7.1.6 -
Start the Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator. (64bit)

Under the tab "System DSN", click on "Add"

Select the ODBC Driver: "CR Text Driver ODBC Driver 7.1.6", and click "Finish"

In "ODBC Text Driver Setup", under the tab "General" enter:
- Data Source Name ( Enter an ODBC DSN Name )
- Database Directory ( Set the path to the text file, like: C:\Data Sources ) -
Under the tab "Advanced", click on the button: "Defined"
The Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator then crash.
Cause
- Issue with the ODBC Driver: CR TextFile ODBC Driver
Resolution

Use the ODBC Driver: Microsoft Access Text Driver, to connect to a Text File.
- On the Microsoft website search for Microsoft Access Database Engine download.
- Download the Microsoft Access Database Engine (64bit)
- Install the Microsoft Access Database Engine (64bit)
- Start Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator (64bit)
- Under the tab "System DSN", click on "Add"
- Select the ODBC Driver: "Microsoft Access Text Driver", and click "Finish"
- Complete the ODBC DSN configuration.
