Symptom
When assigning a manager to a worker in the Manage Workforce app, you enter the worker information of the intended manager. However, the worker information popup for the manager does not appear, and the manager assignment cannot be completed.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Cause
The worker designated as manager does not have an active Work Agreement maintained in the system. The manager lookup relies on existing Work Agreement data — if no Work Agreement exists for the manager, the system cannot provide the worker's information.
Resolution
Create a Work Agreement for the intended manager before attempting the assignment:
- Open the Manage Workforce app
- Search for and open the worker who is intended to be assigned as manager
- Navigate to the Work Agreement section
- Create a new Work Agreement and Save
- Return to the original worker's record
- Re-enter the manager's Work Agreement External ID
- The worker information popup will now appear, and the manager assignment can be completed
