3365938 - Widget filter does not work on hierarchy (TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'displayMode')) in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• Dimension filter cannot be set when building a chart, if custom hierarchy settings are used for the dimension in the story in SAC.
• Error in browser console log: Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'displayMode')
• Story is Optimized Design Experience (ODE).
• Live data connection to Datasphere.
• Workaround: switch hierarchy settings to Flat presentation.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2023.08.18

1. Login to SAC.
2. Open a story.
3. Switch to Edit mode.
4. Insert a chart.
5. Add a dimension where custom hierarchy settings are selected: Hierarchy - Change Hierarchy.
6. Try to add filter on the dimension: select Filter icon => nothing happens.
7. Open the Developer Tools from the browser (see KBA 2280022), repeat step 6, and check the console log error: Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'displayMode').

The issue is caused by a defect in the product.

• The issue is fixed in version 2023.16.7 of SAP Analytics Cloud.
• Please refer to maintenance document.
