Symptom
In order to allow the user full control over the customer variable processing (sort order, dependency logic) a new dependency driven processing (DDP) of customer exits has been introduced with SAP note 3144996. This new processing approach is implicitly also used for CDS query variable processing and might lead to different types of errors/issues in case that corrections are missing. You might observe issues such as the following:
- Variable changes are applied only delayed after subsequent changes.
- Variable changes lead to error the new entered value is not valid.
- Parameter cannot be updated from Reporting Key Date field.
- Fiori App displaying error "Invalid Metadata from Server. Cannot find Cube element".
- The sequence of parameters / variables defined by @AnalyticsDetails.query.variableSequence is not working correctly
- ERROR BRAIN (629): Enter a value for variable <variable name>
- The value help for a hierarchy node variable displays a flat list (indicating that the hierarchy to be used could not be derived)
- ..
To ensure proper processing, it is important to have the latest corrections in the area of dependency driven processing (DDP) applied on the system. A list of important corrections can be found below.
