3369109 - Last Modified Date is not modified once a new record is added - Employee Central

When adding a new record to any Employee Central effective dated portlet (Job Information, Compensation Information etc), the end date of the previous record is automatically updated; however, the Last Modified Date shown in the portlet does not change.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  • Go to Employee Profile > Job Information History UI
  • Latest record is effective as of July 13th 2022; the Last Modified Date is August 14th 2023

  • Select "Insert New Record" and perform any changes with effective date for a date after the previous record
  • For example, here we edited the field 'Pay Grade' with Data Change as Event Reason, effective as of May 1st 2023:

  • The previous record will have their End Date automatically changed due to the fact that there is a new record with effective date afterwards; however, the Last Modified Date of the previous record will not change:

This is a system expected behavior. For an effective-dated entity, when you insert a new record, the end date of the previous record is automatically set to the day before the effective start date of the new record. And the new record is automatically assigned an end date of 12-31-9999.  However, the Last Modified Date changes only when the record is edited (through UI or Import).
