3369667 - Case IDs Not Generated Based on the Order of Creation

Symptom

You notice that the Case ID of the current case falls in a number range before the ID of the previous case, which results in case IDs not being generated / determined based on the order of creation.

Environment

SAP Service Cloud Version 2.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Cases work center.
  2. Click + to create a case.
  3. Fill in all mandatory details and click Save.
  4. Click + to create a 2nd case, fill in all mandatory details and click Save.
  5. See the IDs generated for each case.

You may notice that the Case IDs are not in the order of creation of the case, meaning, the first one can be ID 10 and the second can be ID 12 and so on.

Resolution

It is expected and designed behavior that Case IDs will not always be generated based on the order of creation.
