3371670 - Error: "At least one Customer Role required to maintain Additional Information" Upon Trying to Extend an Existing Supplier as Customer

After the 2308CE upgrade, using the app Manage Customer Master Data, when you try to extend an existing Supplier as Customer, the system throws the error:
At least one Customer Role required to maintain Additional Information

However, it is possible to extend an existing Customer as a Supplier with the app Manage Supplier Master Data. Further, with the apps Maintain Business Partner/Manage Business Partner Master Data there are no issues.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

1. Go to the app Manage Customer Master Data
2. Empty the field Role
3. In Business Partner field, provide the existing Supplier account number to be extended as Customer
4. Click on Go
5. Go into the Business Partner line to open it
6. Click on Edit at the top right corner of the screen
7. Go to the tab Roles
8. Click on Create
9. Add roles FLCU01 and FLCU00
10. Go to the tab Identification
11. Fill in the Tax Number
12. Go to the tab Sales Areas
13. Add the required data related to the Sales Organization including the Currency and Incoterms Version, Incoterms, Incoterms Location 1 ID
14. Apply
15. Go to the tab Company Codes
16. Add the required data related to the Company Code
17. Apply
18. Select Save
19. System throws the error message

This is the designed behavior. The app Manage Customer Master Data is intended to create new Customers or update existing Customer. Therefore, SAP provided the Customer role as pre-selected while loading the app. The app is not intended to be used for other roles specific Business Partner. Hence, use this app Manage Customer Master Data only for creating new Customers and for updating existing Customers.

Use the app Manage Business Partner Master Data for extending an existing Supplier as Customer.

For the scenario where it is possible to extend an existing Customer as a Supplier with the app Manage Supplier Master Data, some checks were missing in the app Manage Customer Master Data. Therefore, this works there without any error. Now the checks are in place. Currently, the same checks are missing in the app Manage Supplier Master Data and hence it works. This issue is planned to be fixed in the current release 2308.
