3372145 - Explosion Date in Released Execution Model Doesn't Match With That in Production Order.

Symptom

You have created a production model, released it to planning and execution and then created a production order on basis of this execution model. However, you find the explosion date in released execution model is different from that in the production order.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to work center Planning and Production Master Data, access view Production Models.
  2. Search production model PM_1 (PM_1 represents production model ID), click Open Release Execution Model - Current Released Version. In the screen "Released Execution Model: PM_1", we can see Explosion Date is today.
  3. Go to work center Production Control, access view Production Orders.
  4. Search PO_1 (PO_1 represents production order ID), click Edit.
  5. Select tab General, we can see "Released Execution Model Explosion Date" has value which is different from the explosion date in above released execution model.

Cause

  1. In the released execution model,  "Explosion Date" is only for you to simulate the impacts on elements with different reference date. You cannot determine an "explosion date" in a production model so that all production orders from this model could have same explosion date. If you move your cursor on the question mark of this field, you will see its explanation.
  2. In production order, explosion date is calculated by system while consider several factors: fixed duration/variable duration in execution model, requested quantity, requested date, operation hours of involved resource, etc. Hence each production order should have its own explosion date.

Resolution

System works as designed.
