3374795 - Unable To Download Templates in the Microsoft Office® Template Maintenance View

User is unable to download the template from Microsoft Office® Template Maintenance view. The Download option is greyed out for the template say for example, List of Project Activities.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Application and User Management Workcenter
2. Go to Microsoft Office® Template Maintenance view
3. Search for Templates, For example: List of Projects Activities
4. Select the Template and now you can observe the "Download" option is disabled

The selected template is a virtual template. Only write-back and specific export templates can be downloaded from template maintenance tool.

We cannot download the virtual export templates, only write-back and specific export templates can be downloaded from template maintenance tool. As these are virtual, they are not stored in physical form as per the standard system design.

You can further check if the Template is Virtual in the Developer Tool in Chrome following the below steps:

1. Go to the browser and login to the ByD system
2. Open the Developer Tool
3. Go to Application and User Management Workcenter
4. Go to Microsoft Office® Template Maintenance view
5. Search for Templates, For example: List of Projects Activities
6. In the developer tool, navigate to the Network tab
7. Select Json and navigate to the Preview tab
8. Expand the Response section
9. Expand the Controller -> Code List section
10. Expand the 0 section

Here you can observe the code indicating that the template is Virtual.
