3376463 - Extension FIeld Added Via Easy Form Editor Does Not Show Data

Symptom

You have added an extension field to a form template table using the built-in Easy Form Editor. However despite being correctly included, the field displays no data in the final document.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Application and User Management work center.
  2. Enter the Form Template Maintenance view.
  3. Search and select the desired template where the field must be added.
  4. Click on the Open button.
  5. Click on Easy Form Editor.
  6. In the Sections Panel, expand a table section of the form (tables are named with a "tbl" prefix).
  7. Click on the Columns section.
  8. A new panel will open below with the section details. Click on the Add button.
  9. Click on Field.
  10. A popup will appear showing the fields available. Use the arrow buttons to add the necessary field.
  11. Click on Ok in the popup.
  12. Click on Save in the Easy Form Editor.
  13. Click on Publish.

After generating a preview of a document using the edited form, the field does not display data.

Cause

The field has an incorrect binding created by Easy Form Editor. This can be seen when opening the template in Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

The Easy Form Editor is meant to be used to perform small changes in the form templates, such as titles, labels, which columns will be displayed in a table, etc. The Easy Form Editor may not be reliable to add extension fields to a table section.

Resolution

You can use the Adobe LiveCycle Designer in order to add the extension fields to the form template, and properly control the binding of the data.
