3376565 - Garbaged Japanese characters when exporting table to PDF in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

When exporting table to PDF, the Japanese characters are not displayed correctly in the exported pdf.

The issue happens in both the import connection and the live connection.

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2023.Q2 and higher

1. Log in to to the SAC tenant
2. Open the optimized story in the view mode
3. Table menu -> Export -> Export type = PDF
4. Export
5. Check the exported pdf
6. Japanese characters are garbaged

The export table to PDF (Table context menu -> Export) has recently become available with the merge of Story and App Design into the enhanced Story 2.0 offering.

The original solution was intended for App Design and was limited to ASCII characters. A decision was taken to include this functionality as part of the merge of App Design and Story, the export solution in based on the solution used in Classic Data Analyzer and takes a different approach to table export from the Story PDF export.

The current solution only supports ASCII characters (see SAP Note 3074128).

Extension of the solution to include additional character sets would require new development and a feature request which will need to be prioritized against our other commitments, the next step would be to raise the request using the Customer Influence portal here : https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/campaign/884. Here you can have your say by adding your own ideas and requests for new features in SAP Analytics Cloud.
