3376565 - Japanese characters appear garbled when exporting table to PDF in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

• When exporting a table to PDF, the Japanese characters are not displayed correctly in the exported pdf.
• The issue happens in both import and live connection.

SAP Analytics Cloud

1. Login to the SAC tenant
2. Open the optimized story in the view mode
3. Table menu -> Export -> Export type = PDF
4. Export
5. Check the exported pdf.
   >>Notice that the Japanese characters appear garbled.

• The export table to PDF (Table context menu -> Export) has recently become available with the merge of Story and App Design into the enhanced Story 2.0 offering.
• The original solution was intended for App Design and was limited to ASCII characters. A decision was taken to include this functionality as part of the merge of App Design and Story, the export solution in based on the solution used in Classic Data Analyzer and takes a different approach to table export from the Story PDF export.

• The current solution only supports ASCII characters (see SAP Note 3074128).
• In the current releases, it is suggested to use Story Export to PDF as this solution handles non ascii characters as documented below: Export a Story as a PDF or a PPTX | SAP Help Portal
