3377022 - Candidate email received in incorrect language based on locale settings - Recruiting Management

• What determines the language of emails sent to candidates from the application?
• Emails sent to candidates may not align with the candidate's locale settings. 

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management 

1. Open the application and navigate to the candidate's profile.  
2. Send an ad hoc or system email to the candidate from the application.  

When sending emails to candidates from the application, the appLocale determines the language in which the email is received.

1. Language priority for emails to candidates is based on three locales: Application Locale (appLocale), Candidate Locale (candidateLocale), and User Locale.  
2. For the Application flow, Application Locale has the highest priority, and status change emails are received in the application locale. This is expected behavior.  
3. For the Candidate flow, Candidate Locale has the highest priority. For Forward to Application/Invited to Apply, refer to 2904546 Invite to Apply email sent in undesired/wrong language - Recruiting Management.  
4. If no locale is maintained, the email's language defaults to the locale of the user sending the email.  
5. Application Locale and Candidate Locale are determined by the language selected in the top right corner on the career portal. These are database fields and cannot be defined in the template.  
6. Candidate Locale is maintained in the Candidate Profile. To change the Candidate Locale:  
      a. Go to the Candidate Profile page.  
      b. Switch the language in the top right corner.  
      c. Click Save.  
      d. Note: This will not affect the Application Locale, meaning Candidate Locale and Application Locale can differ.  
7. Application Locale is maintained in the Job Application directly. To change the Application Locale:  
      a. Navigate to Jobs Applied.  
      b. Select the application.  
      c. Switch the language in the top right corner.  
      d. Click Update.  
      e. Note: This will change both the Application Locale and the Candidate Locale.
