3377065 - Overlapping Number Ranges at Check Lot ID GHI

When trying to add a new Check Lot to Bank ABC, errors are raised when saving. (ABC stands for the Bank ID)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Liquidity Management work center.
2. Open My Banks view.
3. Open Bank ABC.
4. Go to Bank Accounts tab.
5. On Bank Account Number DEF, click on Check Lot tab. (DEF stands for the Bank Account Number)
6. Click on Add Row and fill all the relevant data.
7. When saving, errors are raised:

"Save Failed"
"Overlapping number ranges at check lot ID GHI" (GHI stands for the Check Lot ID)

The issue happens because in the desired number range for the created Check Lot ID GHI, there are one or more check numbers that occurs to be part of another Check Lot ID number range that already have a posted check.

Example scenario for check lots (Check numbers here are just an example for illustrating):

Check Lot JKL:
   First Check: 100
   Last Check: 200

Check Lot GHI:
   First Check: 1
   Last Check: 500

(GHI and JKL stands for the check lot IDs)

Here, there is an overlapping of the Check Lots. Checks from number 100 to 200 are within the number range of GHI - 1 to 500. Even if the previous Check Lot is Blocked, system will not allow to use checks that are within that range.

The existing Check Lot can be splitted into a new one, through the following path:

1. Go to Liquidity Management work center.
2. Open My Banks view.
3. Open Bank ABC.
4. Go to Bank Accounts tab.
5. On Bank Account Number DEF, click on Check Lot tab. (DEF stands for the Bank Account Number)
6. Select Check Lot ID GHI and click on Split Check Lot.
7. On the screen that pops up, on Check Lot: Insert the new Check Lot ID. On the Check Number: Insert the number of the first check that needs to be assigned (In this case, 100) and click on OK.
