3377560 - MDF Object fields with type Generic Object displays numeric values/internal ID instead of Labels in Reports

Symptom

Generic Object type fields in Reporting tools produces numeric values instead of labels (Internal IDs instead of Labels).

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

Running the Report

  1. Go to Reporting
  2. Create/run any Report
  3. See that the field displays a numerical value instead of label

Verify if the field type is Generic Object

  1. Go to Admin Center > Configure Object Definition
  2. Object Definition > MDF object
  3. Look for the field, check Data type column = Generic Object

Cause

System is working as designed.

Resolution

It is by system design that fields from the MDF object, with 'generic object' data type are fetching numerical values instead of labels / descriptions in the reports.

It is not yet feasible to insert a code in the system to convert these internal IDs to reports as it will hugely impact or cause performance degradation when running the report.

Alternatively, if the options/values in this field are few, report users may export and use search and replace these internal IDs in Excel/Spreadsheet with the corresponding labels for offline reference.
