Symptom

  • Functional Location System Status not updated after and before installation in 'Change Technical Object' app
  • Functional Location System Status before and after installation is same, but equipment status will change in different situation
  • Super Technical Object assigned to a Functional Location but System Status shows CRTE

Environment

  •  SAP S/4 HANA Cloud
  •  Asset Management 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Access the app "Change Technical Object"
  2. Input Functional Location
  3. Navigate to Menu Path Change Structure - Install
  4. Input Superior Technical Object
  5. Press Ok
  6. System Status remains as CRTE

Cause

In SAP EAM, We use 'Functional location' to create hierarchy and structuring levels across the organization. In other words, 'Functional location' is an abstract entity while 'Equipment' is physical entity to represent piece of equipment/machine. In equipment case, we actually install in the hierarchy represented by Functional location.

Because of this, there is no specific separate installation status in case of Functional location unlike in case of Equipment (INST).

System Works as Designed.
