Symptom
In the Journal Entry 'ABC' the header text field is empty. And the expectation is some data should be passed on from the relevant Source document to the header text field of the Journal Entry.
'ABC' refers to the Journal entry ID.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to General Ledger work center.
- Go to Journal Entry sub view.
- Search for the Journal Entry ABC along with the source document ID (Goods and Service Receipt).
- The header text field is empty with no data.
Cause
In the source documents like Goods and Service Receipt no description field available as per the system design.
For example: In documents like Payment allocations try to maintain any details in the description field it will be reflected in the header text of the Journal Entry. But if the Journal Entry is generated from Source documents like Goods and Service Receipt, the header text field will be empty.
Resolution
- There is no field as description is available in the source documents like Good and Service Receipt to impact on respective Journal Entry header text. This is a expected system behavior.
- Here suggested workaround is, in the Journal Entry the header text can be given manually. But same cannot be visible anywhere in Good and Service Receipt as there is no description field to be passed.
- Header Text in Goods Service Receipt: The changes made cannot be incorporated in the actual source document. The edit is only possible in the Journal entry header text field.
