3381478 - Mouse overs on buttons in 1.108 UI5 throws an error in the console log

Symptom

When mousing over buttons, the following error appears in the console log

Uncaught TypeError: Element.closestTo accepts either a DOM element or a CSS selector string as parameter, but not '[object HTMLSpanElement]'
    at d.closestTo (appruntime-min-0.js:409:12760)
    at _._handleEvent (appruntime-min-1.js:31:8061)
    at HTMLBodyElement.dispatch (appruntime-min-1.js:535:41411)
    at y.handle (appruntime-min-1.js:535:39233)

This only occurs in Chrome/Edge.  Firefox and Safari do not exhibit the issue.
