Symptom

Error message upon uploading New Bank Directory:

'Error in line 8: 12 Element; maximum line length of 8 exceeded'

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Liquidity Management work center
  2. Go to the Master Data -> Bank Directory view.
  3. Click New -> Bank Directory File Upload.
  4. Select the format as SAP Template and upload the file in ".csv" format.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Error is displayed:
    'Error in line 8: 12 Element; maximum line length of 8 exceeded'

Cause

In Excel Bank Directory file in .csv format, in line 8, element 12, which corresponds to field name "Valid To" the maximum line length of 8 was exceeded, since you have entered a value for the Valid To date with more than 8 characters, for example: "99991231,".

Resolution

Change value to have 8 characters, for example, "99991231" and upload the Bank Directory File again.
