3383309 - SAP Fiori with Evening Horizon: Page theming and styling issues when enabled

Symptom

After enabling the Evening Horizon base theme, or after creating a new custom theme using the Evening Horizon base theme, unexpected styling issues may be observed. Most commonly, dark-colored page elements are displayed against dark backgrounds, causing elements to appear invisible or lack sufficient contrast.

Reproducing the Issue

Log into the system as an Administrator
Go to Theme Manager
Select the predefined theme SAP Fiori with Evening Horizon (dark) as the active theme and save changes. Or, duplicate the predefined theme SAP Fiori with Evening Horizon (dark) theme and set the newly created theme as the active theme
Save changes.

Cause

Certain page elements were developed before the recent introduction and popularity of “dark mode” on applications, and must be updated to accept these styling variables. There is no impact to data, but application functionality may be impacted when text, icons, or buttons are not visible or are more difficult for the user to discern.

Resolution

These issues will be addressed in upcoming patches and releases. For pages supporting legacy experiences identified for deprecation, only functional impacts will be addressed.

Following is a list of known issues with the predefined theme SAP Fiori with Evening Horizon (dark), which remain to be fixed as of the 2H 2023 Preview release.

Workaround

Use any existing custom theme which wasn’t based on the predefined theme SAP Fiori with Evening Horizon (dark). (Use any custom theme created before the 2H 2023 release.)
Use the predefined theme SAP Fiori with Morning Horizon (light) instead.
Create a custom theme that's based on the predefined theme SAP Fiori with Morning Horizon (light).
