3386319 - Tax Amount Displyed Incorrectly for Line items When Using Switzerland Tax Rate in a Sales Order

Symptom

When using Switzerland Tax Rate and changing the Tax Date of a line item in a Sales Order to 01.01.2024, the tax amount is displayed incorrectly in the Sales Order.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Order Work Center.
  2. Select the Sales Order View.
  3. Filter for All Orders.
  4. In the search field, search for the Sales Order ABC (ABC represents the Sales Order ID).
  5. Click Open and select View All.
  6. Navigate to the Items tab.
  7. Mark the Line Item XY (XY represents the Line Item number).
  8. Select the Taxes sub tab.
  9. In the field Tax Date, enter 01.01.2024.
  10. Select Save.

The tax rate change from 7.7% to 8.1%, however the tax amount displayed is wrong.

Cause

The system does not allow different Tax Rates for the same Tax Rate Type. The Tax Rate is determined based on the Tax Date.

From 01.01.2024 the Switzerland Tax Rate for Tax Rate Type Standard will change from 7.7% to 8.1%.

Therefore if Switzerland is maintained as the Tax Country for the Line items in a Sales Order, it will not possible to maintain items with a Tax Date on or after the 01.01.2024 if items with a Tax Date before the 01.01.2024 already exists in the Sales Order, this occurs because the Tax Rate for some of the Line Items will be displayed as 7.7% and others as 8.1%.

This discrepancy in the Tax Rate of the Line Items will cause the document to become inconsistent.

Resolution

Therefore, in case the Tax Date of all line items in the Sales Order ABC requires to be changed to 01.01.2024, then following are the steps required to be performed:

  1. Go to the Sales Order Work Center.
  2. Go to the Sales Order View.
  3. Filter for All Orders.
  4. In the search field, Search for the Sales Order ABC (ABC represents the Sales Order ID).
  5. Open, Select View All.
  6. Navigate to the Items tab.
  7. Mark the Line Item XY (XY represents the Line Item number).
  8. Select the Taxes sub tab.
  9. In the field Tax Date, enter 01.01.2024.
  10. Repeat for all line items.
  11. Navigate to Pricing and Invoice tab.
  12. Select Update Pricing -> Keep Manual Changes.
  13. Select Save.

After this process is performed the Tax Amount and Tax Rate will be displayed correctly for all line items.

However, in case not all line items maintained in the Sales Order ABC are required to be maintained with the tax date as 01.01.2024, then a new Sales Order will have to be created for these line items, as the Tax Rate Type cannot differ for the line items in the Sales Order.
