3386846 - Creating Custom Tasks - Onboarding

Symptom

This article will explain how to create a custom task in Onboarding module and also the prerequisites to conduct this action.

Resolution

Pre-requisite:

To create a custom task, you must:

  1. Configure a custom MDF object.
  2. Create generic object definitions to support generic object fields in the custom task.
  3. Create your custom task.
  4. Use the UI Template Editor to define the UI for the custom task.
  5. Link the custom MDF object to your custom task.
  6. Add the custom task to your onboarding or offboarding program.
  7. Create email notifications for your custom task.

You have the following permissions:

  • User  Onboarding or Offboarding Object Permissions  Custom Task
  • Administrator Onboarding or Offboarding Object Permission - Custom Task Definition
  • User  Onboarding or Offboarding Object Permissions  Delegatable Task
  • Administrator  Metadata Framework  Manage Configuration UI
  • Administrator  Metadata Framework  Configure Object Definitions
  • Administrator  Metadata Framework  Configure Business Rules
  • Administrator  Metadata Framework  Configure Business Rules
  • After creating the object and select the Permission Category on Security, please provide to responsible users role, the permission for these objects as well.

Important to note! Users who may need to complete Custom Tasks also need to have Target population/group which satisfy the requirement. 

  1. Create a MDF Object
    Admin Center > Configure Object Definitions > Create a new object definition.

    Note! After creating the Object, next step is to provide it permission to respective permission roles based on use case and business need. In this very same step, on the Security section, you can select the Permission Category as you rather.



  2. Enable permissions described above:



  3. Create a custom task:
    Manage Onboarding and Offboarding Tasks > Manage Custom Tasks > New Tasks



  4. Add the Custom Task to a Onboarding Program:



  5. Initiate a New Candidate in Onboarding and see if the task is present in the task list:

Note : The fields which can be added the custom object definition should be of the type : Only String, Number, Boolean, Decimal, Date, DateTime, Time, Generic Object, User type fields are supported so far.
