This article will explain how to create a custom task in Onboarding module and also the prerequisites to conduct this action.

Pre-requisite:
To create a custom task, you must:
- Configure a custom MDF object.
- Create generic object definitions to support generic object fields in the custom task.
- Create your custom task.
- Use the UI Template Editor to define the UI for the custom task.
- Link the custom MDF object to your custom task.
- Add the custom task to your onboarding or offboarding program.
- Create email notifications for your custom task.
You have the following permissions:
- User Onboarding or Offboarding Object Permissions Custom Task
- Administrator Onboarding or Offboarding Object Permission - Custom Task Definition
- User Onboarding or Offboarding Object Permissions Delegatable Task
- Administrator Metadata Framework Manage Configuration UI
- Administrator Metadata Framework Configure Object Definitions
- Administrator Metadata Framework Configure Business Rules
- Administrator Metadata Framework Configure Business Rules
1- Create a MDF Object
Admin Center > Configure Object Definitions > Create a new object definition.
2- Enable permissions described above:
3- Create a custom task:
Manage Onboarding and Offboarding Tasks > Manage Custom Tasks > New Tasks
4- Add the Custom Task to a Onboarding Program:
5- Initiate a New Candidate in Onboarding and see if the task is present in the task list:
Note : The fields which can be added the custom object definition should be of the type : Only String, Number, Boolean, Decimal, Date, DateTime, Time, Generic Object, User type fields are supported so far. Attachment and picklist fields are not supported.
