Symptom
Upon opening an Analysis Office workbook from SAC through a web browser, the workbook is downloaded to the local machine. After the workbook connects to SAC, you might want to save it, but a window pops up asking, "Document already exists. Do you want to replace it?"
However, if you open the workbook directly in Analysis via the Analysis menu and select 'Open from SAC', there is no such window popping up when you attempt to save the workbook.
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office 2.8
Reproducing the Issue
1. Log into SAC on the web page.
2. Click on the Analysis Office workbook.
3. The Analysis Office workbook will be downloaded.
4. Double click the downloaded Analysis Office workbook to open it.
5. Click 'Refresh All' to connect to SAC.
6. Save the workbook by going to File -> Analysis -> Save Workbook -> Save a Workbook on the SAP Analytics Cloud Platform.
Cause
The popup window is by design. When opening an Analysis workbook from SAC, the Excel file is downloaded from the browser to the local machine. There is no AO launcher file generated by SAC.
Resolution
As a workaround, you can open the workbook directly in Analysis via the Analysis menu and Open from SAC. Then you can use the save icon to overwrite the workbook directly. Alternatively, you can use the Analysis menu to upload the workbook again to SAC.
There is a feature request to enhance this behavior Improvement Request Details - Customer Influence (sap.com) With a launcher file we could directly save and overwrite it back on the SAC Platform.
