3387638 - "Member is already booked" when adding an existing member in a table in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

When you add a new line and select an existing member with the "Add member" option, the error "Member is already booked" is displayed.

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

Case 1: 'Unbooked Data' is turned on:

1. Go to a story which at least one dimension not ticked with the unbooked option.
2. Right click a dimension header in the table.
3. Add member.
4. Add an existing member.
5. It works.
6. Show unbooked for all the dimensions of this table.
7. Add the same member in step 4.
8. Error "Member is already booked" is displayed.

Case 2: 'Unbooked Data' is turned off:

1. Go to a story which all dimension ticked with the show unbooked option.
2. In the table, there are more than 3 dimensions in the column. For example, the original table is as below: 
   

   		Time	Apr 2026
   Region (Outer dimension)	Product (Middle Dimension)	Color (Inner Dimension)
   Germany	Shoes	White	100

3. Right click the Product member Shoes in the middle and add a new line
4. A new line is added
   

   		Time	Apr 2026
   Region (Outer dimension)	Product (Middle Dimension)	Color (Inner Dimension)
   Germany	Shoes	White	100
   Germany		White

5. Move your mouse to the cell of the inner column in this new line and change it to another member that is unbooked

   Germany	Shoes	White	100
   Germany		Red

6. Move your mouse back to the cell of the middle column in this new line and select the same member as the line above

   Germany	Shoes	White	100
   Germany	Shoes	Red

7. Error "Member is already booked" is displayed.

Cause of case 1:

Whe all the dimensions of a table are enabled with the Unbooked option, all existing members are already shown in the table. 
In this situation, we cannot add an existing member via add member and error "Member is already booked" is displayed.
It's the designed behavior. We cannot add repeated members via add member.  

Cause of case 2:

When checking whether the member is already booked / repeated, the system only checks the current dimension and the outer dimensions. It does not check the inner dimensions.

In both cases, it works as designed.

For case 2, if you would like to add a new line with same Region and Product dimension member and different Color dimension members, please right click the Color member to trigger the "Add member" feature.
