3387804 - Updating assortments (executing RWSORT61) takes extremely long time

Symptom

When updating assortments (e.g. assigning new sites to assortments) - e.g. with background job executing RWSORT61 - the runtime is unusually long and following is also observed parallel:

  • The job may timeout due to the extreme long runtime
  • In the job log appear:
    • Communication errors
    • Resource errors 
    • Time limit exceeded errors
  • Tracing the job and it's parallel RFC processes you may see waiting with no progress for several minutes
  • TIME_OUT dumps can be found in ST22 for ABAP program: CL_CRM_S4_RELEASE=============CP 
  • You might have or had in the past an SAP CRM system
