3388569 - Cannot use characters other than English as Input Parameter Name for Calculation Measure in Unified Story

Symptom

In Input Control for calculation measure in Classic Story experience, you are able to use Japanese or characters of any other language than English as the name. However, for the Unified Story(Optimized Designer Experience), it does not allow you to use these characters  as the name.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 1.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Unified Story and a Classic Story for testing.
  2. Create a input control for a calculation to test.
  3. For Unified Story, Japanese or Chinese Character as a name for the input control is not recognized
  4. The same operation works for Classic Story.

Cause

This is by design.

In a Unified story, SAC use Calculation Input Control (CIC) name as the outline name ( the Classic Story experience has no outline and script feature). The outline name is used in scripts of Unified Story and scripts cannot use Japanese characters as the literal name (just like users cannot use Japanese characters as variable names in JavaScript).

Resolution

Please use English characters as the name for  Calculation Input Control.
