3389469 - In Manage Purchase Contracts, Custom Account Assignment is not visible.

Symptom

When attempting to create a purchase contract using the "Manage Purchase Contracts" app in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the system displays the following error message:

Error: "Enter a valid account assignment category"
Message Number: ME/063

This issue arises specifically when using a custom Account Assignment Category (AAC) and  Account Assignment Category "Q" cannot be viewed, selected, or accessed within the app

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the "Manage Purchase Contracts" app.
  2. Click "Create" to initiate a new contract.
  3. Enter the required header details.
  4. Add one or more line items.
  5. In the Account Assignment Category field at item level, input ‘1’ (a custom AAC).
  6. Observe the system displays the error message: "Enter a valid account assignment category" (Message no. ME/063)
  7. Additionally, Account Assignment Category "Q" is not visible or selectable in the dropdown, indicating a visibility or configuration limitation.

Cause

The issue arises due to system standard design. The "Manage Purchase Contracts" app does not support custom account assignment categories.

Resolution

In the "Manage Purchase Contracts" app, the supported categories include:

  • Sales Order (C)
  • Cost Center (K)
  • Project (P)
  • Third-Party (S)
  • Unknown (U)
  • Network (N)
  • Asset (A)
  • Order (F)

    Alternatively, use the "Create Purchase Contract (ME31K)" to create purchase contracts with custom account assignment categories, as this functionality is supported in that app.
