Symptom
- Chart with zero suppression enabled still displays 0 values on a Story in SAP Analytics Cloud.
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud 2023.21
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Story in SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Enable "Zero Suppression" in a Chart properties.
- Notice zero value measures still appear.
Cause
- Setting a measures decimal places to "0" during modeling acts only as number formatting.
- Increasing the decimal places to 3 will display that the previously "zero" values are small decimal values like "0.001".
Resolution
- This behavior is by design. Zero suppression is applied before any number formatting is done. If a number is not an actual zero (e.g. 0.0005), it will not be suppressed regardless of the formatting settings in the model or chart.
- A workaround is to create a calculated measure or dimension which sets a value to zero if it is less than 0.5 or whatever your desired cutoff point is.
