3391732 - Error when Updating Business Configuration UI or Import the Succession Data Model - You can't save your changes as the combination of Standard Field and Entity Type already exists in HRIS Sync Mapping

When trying to make an update in Manage Business Configuration UI or Import the Succession Data Model the following Error Message is received:

You can't save your changes as the combination of Standard Field and Entity Type already exists in HRIS Sync Mapping

For example:

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

This is an enhanced validation introduced in the 2H 2023 Release, to ensure the correctness of the HRIS Sync Mappings Configuration, this is documented in the What's New Viewer:

This validation checks for Duplicate combination entries in HRIS Sync Mapping. 

We’ve added a validation message to notify you that you cannot have duplicate combination entries in the HRIS Sync Mapping sections in Business Configuration.

For example, you cannot save your changes if the combination of Standard Field and Entity Type already exists in HRIS Sync Mapping: Standard Field section.

To resolve the issue you need to remove the duplicate mappings. 

Via Business Configuration UI:

1. Navigate to Business Configuration UI
2. Select the "HRIS Sync Mappings" Element 
3. Highlight the duplicate mapping from the error and delete one of them
4. Save 
5. If there any additional duplicates the error will be shown for the additional fields, in this case, repeat steps 3 & 4 for the additional fields. 

Via Succession Data Model Imports:

1. Open the Data Model in an XML editor 
2. Navigate to the "hris-sync-mappings" element 
3. Highlight the duplicate mapping from the error and delete one of them
4. Save the file as a new version 
5. On the Succession Data Model Import page import the new file adding a comment to the new version for recorded keeping
6. If there any additional duplicates the error will be shown for the additional fields, in this case, repeat steps 3-5 for the additional fields.
