3392309 - Difference and logic of Smoothing or Catch-up in depreciation calculation


In / S/4 HANA, the transaction OAYR no longer has the flag for smoothing and catch-up. Smoothing will then no longer be possible.
Smoothing function is then no longer available and the automatic adjustments will be made with Catch-up method. Alternatively, you can use an interval in the depreciation parameters (see SAP KBA 3390390-Change the depreciation parameters within the open fiscal years and / or during a fiscal year).

The smoothing method is no longer necessary (See SAP KBA 3391570-The smoothing method is no longer necessary and note 2270388- S4TWL - Asset Accounting: Parallel valuation and journal entry).

Therefore, the following explanation is only relevant for ECC and below.
