3393851 - Inventory Cost Not Updated After Third-Party Inbound Delivery

• You create sales order item XYZ-XX with external fulfilment of material ABC (XYZ-XX represents the sales order item ID; ABC represents the material ID). 
• After the sales order is released, a third-party purchase order is triggered. 
• You create a third-party inbound delivery notification which triggers the outbound goods issue to the customer. 
• You expect the delivery to update the material's inventory cost as it is valuated with the Moving Average perpetual cost method. 
• When checking the Inventory Cost history you can find no entry to update the material's inventory cost. 

SAP Business ByDesign

To check the involved sales relevant business transactions: 

1. In the Cost and Revenue workcenter go to the Sales Document Items  view. 
2. Find sales order item XYZ-XX.
3. Press Reports and choose Sales Documents - Line Items.
4. You can see that the delivery is correctly posted. 

To check the Inventory Cost history: 

1. Go to the Inventory Valuation  work center and here to the Materials view. 
2. Search for material ABC. 
3. Press View Cost History.
4. Go to the respective accounting period. 

You cannot find an entry on the delivery posting date to update the material's inventory cost. 

Third-party goods and activity confirmations do not have any impact on the inventory ledger. They are posted as cost of goods sold into the Sales ledger. 

As a result, they do not affect the inventory cost of the delivered material.

The system is working as designed. Third-party deliveries are not supposed to impact the inventory ledger or the inventory cost of the delivered material.
