3395176 - Why scope item 2Q2 is not activated?

When running SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system with an installation before the year 2021, the Scope Item "Data Migration to SAP S/4HANA from Staging" (2Q2) is showing not activated.

While the app Migrate Your Data and other data migration tools can be used in this system.

Open Manage Your Solution app and check View Solution Scope section.

Or in Central Business Configuration (CBC) and open Define Scope application.

The scope item XX_2Q2 "Data Migration to SAP S/4HANA from Staging" is not activated but the retired scope item XX_BH5 "Data Migration to SAP S/4HANA from File" is activated.

The scope item 2Q2 "Data Migration to SAP S/4HANA from Staging" and the retired scope item BH5 are documentation-only scope items. That means that there is no configuration delivered with that scope items. They are initially build only to deliver a documentation in the beginning of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Therefore the Migrate Your Data - Migration Cockpit app and other data migration related apps can be used although it is not activated.

There is only one dependency at the moment that requires 2Q2 being activated: 

• If the Remote SAP HANA Database Schema option on an SAP HANA database within SAP BTP being used, the scope item 2Q2 must be activated to use the communication arrangement SAP_COM_0678.

As 2Q2 is a standard scope item, it is automatically activated during the initial systems activation. If the system was installed before the year 2021 when the new scope item 2Q2 replaced scope item BH5, the scope item 2Q2 will shown as not activated.

New standard scope items will not be activated automatically once they are released to host. Instead the user must activate such new standard scope items by themselves.

Let the scope item XX_2Q2 being activated in system.
