Symptom

In Data Services Designer, view data on a table that contains DF34_DEC type field. No records are returned, error message displayed:

  • Error calling RFC function to get table data: <RFC_ABAP_MESSAGE, SY-MSGTY: E, SY-MSGID: S# SY-MSGNO: 240, SY-MSGV1: Data Services read error.Check Data Services error)- Data Services read error.Check Data Services error>.

Or Execute Data Services job with a source table that contains DF34_DEC type field. Job fails. Error in Error log:

  • <RFC_ABAP_MESSAGE, SY-MSGTY: E, SY-MSGID: S#, SY-MSGNO: 240, SY-MSGV1: Data Services read error.Check Data Services error)- Data Services read error.Check Data Services error>.
