3398665 - Charts are not loading in Optimized Design mode (ODE) in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

When adding a chart in a Optimized design mode story (unified) in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), the widget gives an error: 

  • "An unexpected exception is preventing the chart from being displayed. Contact your administrator with the details."

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2023.16.14

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new ODE story.
  2. Add a chart. e.g. "Combination Column & Line" chart.
  3. Add a column axis, a Line Axis and as a dimension.
  4. Notice the chart is not showing data but an error message instead "An unexpected exception is preventing the chart from being displayed. Contact your administrator with the details."
  5. The same chart shows data without any error in Classic story.

Cause

This issue is currently under investigation by development.
