3399061 - Minimum Dynamic Break deduction on partial absences

Symptom

Configuration has been done to generate a Dynamic Break (e.g. 30 minutes) when the recorded hours reach a certain amount (e.g. 5 hours). It is expected that a 30-minute dynamic break should only be generated if the absence hours reach a minimum of 5 hours. 

  • Requesting a partial absence with less than 5 hours, the system is still deducting 30 minutes. 
  • A 30-minute break is manually recorded and then a partial absence is requested, a duplicate dynamic break is deducted again from the requested absence amount.

Cause

Currently this is the expected system behavior. 

While recording an absence, the system does not consider recorded attendances on the same day. Hence, the system does not know that no dynamic breaks are required.

To gather the correct amount of hours for absences, the Scheduled Dynamic Break are generated as if the full work schedule is worked. If a partial absence overlaps with the Scheduled Dynamic Break, the absence gets breaks deducted although no other record exist. 

Resolution

We are planning to enhance this system behavior with 1H2026 release. Please follow this KBA for updates as per 2171560 - How to be notified of new or updated SAP Notes or KBAs.

As workaround, it is possible to generate the correct time valuation result for the recorded absence. Refer to SAP Help guide: Clock Times - Time Valuation 5: CLT - Pos & Neg - Get Paid Absences w/o Breaks.

However, the deduction quantity for the partial absence cannot be modified at the moment.
