Resolution
- What is re-provisioning, and when is it used?
Re-provisioning means termination of the current system and delivering a new empty system where customer can perform all the configurations from scratch.
Reprovisioning is used in very special cases when there are no other undo options available to address unwanted changes in the system. It is performed during the early stages of the implementation project. - When is re-provisioning recommended? / Why would re-provisioning become necessary?
Re-provisioning may be recommended for below 2 reasons,
1) when there are configurations in the Preset phase that cannot be rolled back after activation.
2) Sometimes the customer is noticing the wrong config too late and there is no possibility to change the configuration anymore. - How do I request re-provisioning?
Reprovisioning can be requested by creating a support ticket to component XX-S4C-OPR-SRV and stating the reasons for it. It will be followed by internal approvals.
Once approved, the existing system will be terminated and Customer will be communicated to request New System from SAP4Me.
For starter systems (2SL and 3SL), IMAS_FULLFILLMENT team will be involved to adjust the ES manually so that Customer can trigger it out of SAP4ME.
If Customer system is CBC based, X4-CBC-SRV team will be involved to perform clean-up activities.
Please Note: If the disrupted configurations are imported from Development to Quality and Production, in that case we need to reprovision the entire landscape. - What happens to the existing system during re-provisioning?
The existing system will be decommissioned and termination from ICP (Instance Control Panel) will be scheduled, providing the necessary information in the reason column for future tracking.
- Can I avoid re-provisioning if there are undo options available?
Yes, it is recommended to work with DEV Support and explore undo options before considering re-provisioning as with the reprovisioning the entire customer data will be cleared from the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system.
- Is re-provisioning part of the standard Service catalogue?
No, re-provisioning is not part of the standard Service catalogue. It is only used in special cases as a last resort.
