3402242 - Content repository has offline Status. RTE:[5] connection refused: x_server not running

Symptom

  • The SAP content server's MaxDB was shut down and then restarted.
  • Since then all content repositories that are located on this SAP content server shows status as offline. This can be seen in CSADMIN, OAC0 or in the content server URL.
  • In the Content server URL something similar to the following will be seen for an affected content repository, we can tell that the cause as highlighted is that the x_server is not started:

    contRep="SAPTESTCR";contRepStatus="offline";contRepStatusDescription="SQLConnect failed, [SAP AG][LIBSDBOD SO][SAP MaxDB] Communication link failure;-10709 Connection failed (RTE:[5] connection refused: x_server not running), Error Code: -10709"
