3402280 - Rep Agent Thread can't start with error "A Rep Agent Thread for database 'xxx' (dbid=x) is already running" - SAP SRS

Symptom

  • sp_stop_rep_agent/sp_start_rep_agent may not work properly after the Rep Agent disconnects by stopping SRS
  • RepAgent thread seems to have stopped, but that would be hanging(there is no message in ASE log)
  • sp_start_rep_agent will rise 9262 error

Msg 9262, Level 16, State 0:
Server 'SYBASE', Procedure 'sp_start_rep_agent', Line 306:
A Rep Agent Thread for database 'PDB' (dbid=7) is already running.

Msg 18421, Level 16, State 1:
Server 'SYBASE', Procedure 'sp_start_rep_agent', Line 311:
Failed to start the Replication Agent thread for database 'PDB'.
(return status = 1)
