3402343 - You Are Not Able to Run Depreciation Recalculation for Fixed Assets due to Error 'Cost Center does not Exist in Profit Center'

You are not able to run depreciation recalculation for the fixed asset 123 due to error message: Cost Center XYZ does not exist in Profit Center DEF.

(123 represents the fixed asset ID. XYZ represents the Cost Center ID. DEF represents the Profit Center ID.)

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
2. Go to Depreciation view.
3. Check the run ID: XXX (XYX represents the depreciation run ID).
4. Move to the messages tab, and you can see the error message:

Cost Center XYZ does not exist in Profit Center DEF for fixed asset 123. 

The start date of the cost center is later than the start date for the assignment interval of the fixed asset.

1. Open Cost and Revenue work center.
2. Navigate to master data - cost centers.
3. Search for cost center XYZ.

You see that this cost center is valid from date dd.mm.yyyy onwards.

1. Open Fixed Asset work center.
2. Select Fixed Assets view and click edit - master data.
3. Under tab basic data you see that start date for the assignment interval of fixed asset 123 is earlier than dd.mm.yyyy.

1. Open Fixed Asset work center.
2. Select Fixed Assets view and click edit - master data.
3. Navigate to sub-tab basic data.
4. Under header all assignment intervals, click add row.
5. Add a new assignment interval with a date later than creation date of cost center XYZ.
6. Confirm with save.

Afterwards you should be able to run depreciation recalculation for the fixed asset.

This scenario only appears for migrated fixed assets.
If you create a fixed asset in SAP Business ByDesign, it is not possible to create an assignment interval which is earlier than the start date of the cost center.
