3406452 - Failed to issue rs_marker drain xa prepare for database 'master'.

Symptom

  • ASE version is prior to ASE SP4
  • "enable DTM" is set to "1" in primary and standby ASE servers
  • sap_failover fails with an error:
    Failover   Long Description              Drain XA prepared transactions on server "<standby_host_name>:5005".                                          
    Failover   Failing Command Return Code   0                                                                                                                  
    Failover   Failing Command Error Message Failed to issue rs_marker drain xa prepare for database 'master'.                                                  
    Failover   Failing Exception             Message: 'com.sybase.jdbc4.jdbc.SybSQLException: SYSADMIN function 'issue_marker' is not valid.' Cause: 'SYSADMIN function 'issue_marker' is not valid.'.
    Failover   Corrective Action             Verify that SRS on host '<standby_host_name>', port '5005' is running, then resubmit the failed command
