Error: "FTE is required and cannot be blank” on ending the global assignment when centralized service is enabled “Enable Centralized Services for Global Assignment (Applicable for Add, Edit, End and Obsolete actions from UI)".

Note: The error is shown only when the standard-hours field is disabled in Job Information or the value is “0”.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central: Global Assignment

1. In Admin Tools -> Company System and Logo Settings, the switch " Enable Centralised Services for Global Assignment (Applicable for Add, Edit, End and Obsolete actions from UI) is enabled.
2. Search for user - ABC.
3. Take Action -> Manage Global Assignment.
4. Click End.
5. Fill the details and error is shown.
6. Error: “FTE is required and cannot be blank”.

Engineering Team have confirmed that the system is working as expected on Centralized Services. The issue is observed when the following conditions are met:

• The Standard weekly hour is disabled/deleted. Hence the system's built-in FTE calculation logic is not enforced
• The FTE field is mandatory but not visible on the End Global Assignment UI. Hence no copy over of the FTE value and the system sets the value to null as per described logic explained in the guide
• The customer rule has no matching conditions, therefore FTE value is not set by the rule

Customers are advised to correct their configurations to resolve this issue. They can implement either of the following resolutions:

Resolution 1: Make the FTE field non-mandatory. This will make it possible to save a null value.

Resolution 2: Amend the business rule for the affected users' scenario and/or define catch all condition (ELSE) that would set the FTE value to:

                    Either a defined value, e.g. '0' (or as per the customer's business logic)

                    OR

                     Would set the FTE value to be equal to FTE's previous value (the rule needs to be model based rule)
