3407615 - LDAP connection fails from PD Desktop when working with a pool of LDAP servers - SAP PD

Symptom

  • LDAP connection is fine using anonymous bind from PD Desktop and specific server is used: LDAP://hostname1.com:389
  • The server (hostname1) was removed from the url when switching to use the bind id and password.
  • Setting Bind User DN and Bind Password, the connection fails:
The LDAP Server 'LDAP://hostname2.com:389' connection failed with the following error: The user name or password is incorrect.
  • No error is returned in Portal:
       Successfully connected to the server.
  • Checking the user ID in both Portal (Check LDAP User) and Desktop (Check Name) returns the same message:
The login name USER exists in the LDAP server
and it returns the user details.
  • The server controlling the Portal is the same as the proxy server and the client machines.
  • The AD environment is a pool of servers. This does work in the Portal, but not the desktop client.
